  • Is kindergarten the most important learning experience in a child’s life?

Posted by admin on January 18th, 2010 and filed under kindergarten | 7 Comments »

I am writing a research paper on this topic and I was just wondering how important people think kindergarten is. There are states that require kindergarten but in other states it is optional. For example, in New York kindergarten is optional.
If kindergarten was really that important, they would of make it required in all areas.

What ever the first "formal" school setting experience is, that’s the most important. It sets the foundation for learning. No matter how good the roof is, if the foundation is not good, the whole house might collapse.

Kindergarten is extremely important, as is all of early childhood experience.

However IMHO: the most important learning experience in a child’s life is when he/she learns that he is loved beyond all measure by a single human being who also just happens (lucky him!) to be the most important person in the whole world. With that early experience humans can survive almost anything, without it they are as fragile as paper.

It is very important not only does it teach social skills but most first grade teachers expect that their students already know their ABC’s and 123 before they get to school. Also math concepts are taught in kinder as well as some science and computer skills. They also start to learn to read. Maybe it is opt. in some states because they do not have the funds to support it in their schools budget.

What I remember getting out of kindergarten is criticism and ridicule…so maybe you should look at the emotional and socializing aspects, too.

In most every cases, yes, I think kindergarten is extremely important to start off your learning experiences strong with a good teacher and making sure young children are excelling. I had a wonderful kindergarten teacher, and not to brag but he started me off very strong so I could easily read 5th grade level books on 1st grade. Also, right now, my current GPA is 4.0 and in elementary school I had straight a’s. It makes all the difference to have good teachers within every grade but kindergarten, I think is extremely important.

      Hope this helps!!!:)
